MKTG Celebrates Our 19th Birthday!

The Masha Krupp Translation Group Ltd (MKTG) recently celebrated its 19th birthday! To mark this special occasion, we threw a party and invited staff, clients, partners and friends. The party featured a live performance from MKTG’s own in-house band, The Firebirds, wonderful catered food and drink and a terrific atmosphere of accomplishment. Together, we celebrated our longevity, our corporate commitment to excellence and the prospect of another two decades of providing nothing but the best in linguistic services to our clients!

As a part of our celebration, the MKTG team presented our President and CEO with a movie-sized poster befitting her stature as one of Canada’s most successful female entrepreneurs. As a part of our living corporate memory, the poster documents what staff love about working for MKTG — each an individual expression but expressive of the sentiment that we all share: our gratitude for the deeply unique community of work that Masha has built at MKTG! From two employees in 1992 to the largest Canadian-owned firm in Canada, Masha has built MKTG into one of Canada’s most successful linguistic services firms one word at a time. As a business, we’re proud of her and proud of ourselves!

Amethyst Track and Field Challenge 2010

On July 22, 2010, MKTG hosted the third annual Amethyst Track Challenge in support of the Amethyst Women’s Addiction Centre. The event was a great success, raising $37,700 this year, bringing the total funds raised to more than $100,000! MKTG was joined by a number of corporate competitors and local celebrities for a fun-filled day of track and field events at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. Thank you to all who participated, with special thanks to the Minto Group, CRG Consulting, Heenan Blaikie and TD Waterhouse. We hope to see you July 13, 2011 for the fourth annual Amethyst Track Challenge!

Multilingual Capability

In 2009, we won a major contract to translate The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Web site into 10 languages. While we are capable of translating more than 60 languages, this contract was one more affirmation of our superior language network in Ottawa and across the country. Regardless of the job, we are always able to access and recruit the best translators in the business.

Disaster Averted!

In 2009, a fire at MKTG’s Merivale Road headquarters tested the company’s Disaster Recovery Plan. We’re proud to report the plan passed with flying colours! As it turned out, the fire was minor and nobody was injured — but our building was evacuated for nearly five hours with the entire staff stranded in the parking lot.

How did we cope? We pulled out our cell phones to let clients in on the drama, drafted a bilingual memo on the spot for clients we couldn’t reach and deployed essential staff to our certified Lights Out facility 40 km away; from there, we were able to handle all urgent translation requests without interruption.

Even as we waited for news about the fire, we didn’t sweat it much. We knew that no matter what, all our back-up files, stored off-site in a secure RCMP-approved cabinet were safe. Masha learned something important that day, though. While MKTG’s disaster recovery plan worked well, she discovered that it’s hard to shout instructions at 100 people standing outside. Perhaps Minto’s Santa will send us a megaphone for Christmas!

Largest-Ever Translation Contract!

In October 2008, MKTG won a Translation contract worth $40 million from Canada Revenue Agency! But our ambition does not stop there. We are determined to win as much work as we can by providing top-quality, swift service across the country. Throughout, we will continue to do what we do best: maintain our existing client base and invite others to try us out. New clients will see for themselves why we are the top translation firm in Canada.
