A Responsible Corporate Citizen
Devoted to Amethyst
As Masha always says, giving can be fun! In June 2007, Masha closed the office for the day and paid for all MKTG employees to participate in the Amethyst Women’s Addiction Centre golf tournament fundraiser. She also funded the banquet that followed the tournament.
In June 2008, Masha took her participation to the next level. She created and presented the first annual Amethyst Track Challenge. Masha once again closed the office for the day and took her staff to the Terry Fox Athletic Facility where she joined other corporations and local celebrities for a fun-filled day of friendly competition that raised almost $40,000 for Amethyst.
Good News about Great Fun Sure Spreads!
On June 23, 2009, the second annual Amethyst Track Challenge kicked off with a warm welcome from the event’s Honorary Chair, Josie Geuer, of Hot 89.9. Local Opera singer Erinne-Colleen Laurin performed
Twenty-four teams and 114 participants competed in the event, a 23 percent increase over 2008. Events included the 100m, 400m, and 3km runs, the 4x100m relay, long jump, baseball throw and the team tug-of-war. Fans hooted and hollered through the always-hilarious and hugely competitive 50-yard CEO Challenge.
The event raised more than $34,000 for the Amethyst Women’s Addiction Centre, showcasing the generosity of many local business supporters, even in the midst of the economic crisis.
“As a local businesswoman, I wanted to help an organization that supports women and children in the community,” explained Masha Krupp. “This event allows a wonderful opportunity for CEOs and executives to network with one another and with their staff, while supporting an important organization.”

We’ve built a culture around giving.
“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”
—Winston Churchill
At The Masha Krupp Translation Group, we believe that helping others succeed is just as important as our personal and corporate achievements. That’s why we support more than 100 charities in Ottawa, across Canada and around the world.
We donate 10 to 15 percent of our annual operating profits to charity, helping our community grow alongside our fortunes. Locally, we focus on helping disadvantaged women and children and other impoverished citizens. As well, we fund local art programs, sporting clubs and school breakfast programs in Ottawa and Gatineau.
Across Ontario
Our outreach doesn’t end at the city limits; we believe that giving should extend well beyond. We have helped support needy mothers in Toronto and we give regularly to Laurentian University in Sudbury and to the Sudbury Youth Centre and Samaritan’s Centre.

Around the World
We also work to improve living conditions around the world, supporting orphanages in Belarus, Russia, Argentina and El Salvador, and we contribute generously to disaster relief efforts (as an example, we made large contributions to Hurricane Katrina and the Asian Tsunami of 2004).
Belarus
Since 2005, we have provided regular support for three orphans in Belarus, which will enable them to complete their schooling. In Belarus, a child is offered public schooling only until age 16, after which they have to pay for education.
Russia
Our charitable giving in Russia is extensive, supporting a drug addiction centre in Russia, two orphanages, and a wide range of disadvantaged people through Russia’s network of Baptist churches.
El Salvador
We learned recently through an MKTG employee of a humble orphanage in Usulután, El Salvador that was desperately in need of funding for clothing, shoes and food. In partnership with the employee’s father, who lives in Usulután, MKTG sent the much-needed funds. A second contribution provided sufficient supplies to last the children six months. MKTG is committed to providing support to these orphans on an as-needed basis.
More recently, a daycare in Usulután requested funds for furniture and supplies. Once again, MKTG sent the funding, and the daycare was able to begin operations.
Nicaragua
Word gets around. Having heard about MKTG’s contribution programs in Latin America, a Nicaraguan community activist contacted the company for help with a basketball program aimed at low-income children. MKTG sent funds for shoes and uniforms, enabling the team to take part in official tournaments. When tropical storm Alma destroyed the roof of the team’s small recreation centre in early 2008, the company sent additional funds to reconstruct the centre.
