Strengthening communities
We support more than 100 charities locally, nationally and around the world, allocating 10 to 15 percent of our annual operating profits to aid those in need.
Much of our charity work targets local needs, such as improving the lives of disadvantaged women and children and the homeless in the Ottawa area. We provide funding for school breakfast programs in both Ottawa and Gatineau and regularly send donations to local charities such as the Ottawa Food Bank, St. Joe’s Women’s Centre, and the Ottawa Mission. We also support local arts and sports programs.
In recent years we’ve responded energetically to international disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and the Asian Tsunami of 2004. And we support several orphanages in Russia, Argentina and Belarus, sending urgently needed money and clothing on a regular basis.
We act on our belief in giving. Employees are invited to participate in a monthly 50/50 draw, knowing the proceeds will support local charities and social causes of their choosing. Employees are encouraged to propose new corporate charitable initiatives, many of which receive the support of the President for company wide participation.
In 2007, Ottawa Life magazine named Masha Krupp one of Ottawa’s Top 50 People, in part for her philanthropic work.
